Ingredients

For the Naan Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Garlic Butter

  • 3 tablespoons butter melted
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • For the Cheese Filling
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded cheddar cheese

How To Make Cheesy Garlic Naan Bread

  1. Make the Dough
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  3. Add the warm water, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 5–6 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the Dough Rise
  6. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl and cover it with a towel.
  7. Allow it to rest in a warm place for 45 minutes, or until slightly puffed.
  8. Prepare the Garlic Butter
  9. In a small bowl, combine:
  10. melted butter
  11. minced garlic
  12. chopped parsley
  13. salt
  14. Mix well and set aside.
  15. Shape the Naan
  16. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces.
  17. Roll each piece into a small circle (about 6 inches wide).
  18. Place 2–3 tablespoons of shredded cheese in the center. Fold the dough over the cheese and gently roll it out again to form a flat oval.
  19. Cook the Naan
  20. Heat a large skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat.
  21. Place one naan in the hot pan and cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form.
  22. Flip and cook another 1–2 minutes until golden spots appear.
  23. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  24. Add the Garlic Butter
  25. Brush each hot naan generously with the prepared garlic butter mixture.
  26. Serve warm while the cheese inside is melted and stretchy.
