- 1 cup frozen peas
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of nutmeg optional
- 1 tsp lemon juice
For Serving
- 2 slices of bread your choice: sourdough, whole wheat, or white
- Butter optional, for toasting
- Fresh herbs parsley, chives, or mint, optional
How to Make Creamed Peas on Toast
- Prepare the Toast
- Toast bread slices to your preference.
- Spread a thin layer of butter if desired. Set aside.
- Cook the Shallots and Garlic
- In a medium pan, melt butter over medium heat.
- Add shallot or onion and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
