Ingredients

medium bell peppers
assorted colors, cut into ½-inch thick slices

thinly sliced

beer

whole-grain mustard

uncooked Italian or bratwurst sausages
Salt and pepper

bratwurst buns or small sandwich rolls

Instructions
Place the bell peppers, onion, beer, whole-grain mustard, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker. Stir to combine.
Lay the sausages on top of the pepper and onion mixture.
Cover and cook on low until the sausages are cooked through and the peppers are tender, about 6 hours.
Optional: For crispier sausages, heat a little oil in a skillet and sear the cooked sausages on both sides before serving.
Serve the sausages and peppers on rolls or on a platter with your favorite sides.
Notes
For the best texture, sear the sausages after slow cooking if you want a browned, slightly crisp exterior while keeping the inside juicy.
