Sausage Peppers And Onions

Ingredients
  

  • 3 medium bell peppers assorted colors, cut into ½-inch thick slices
  • 1 medium yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 1 cup beer
  • 2 tablespoons whole-grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 pounds uncooked Italian or bratwurst sausages
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 10 bratwurst buns or small sandwich rolls optional

Instructions
 

  • Place the bell peppers, onion, beer, whole-grain mustard, minced garlic, salt, and pepper in a slow cooker. Stir to combine.
  • Lay the sausages on top of the pepper and onion mixture.
  • Cover and cook on low until the sausages are cooked through and the peppers are tender, about 6 hours.
  • Optional: For crispier sausages, heat a little oil in a skillet and sear the cooked sausages on both sides before serving.
  • Serve the sausages and peppers on rolls or on a platter with your favorite sides.

Notes

For the best texture, sear the sausages after slow cooking if you want a browned, slightly crisp exterior while keeping the inside juicy.
