Making Chicago-style Deep Dish pizza has definitely become an art form over the past 50 years. This style of pizza is thicker and features a chewy crust because of the olive oil in the dough.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 – 1lb of pizza dough, thawed
- 1 can of fire-roasted basil tomatoes
- 1 small jar of pizza sauce
- 2 – 16oz bag of Mozzarella cheese
- 1 C grated parmesan cheese
- Pepperoni for topping
- Fresh Basil and shredded parmesan cheese for topping
How To Make Chicago-Style Deep Dish Pizza:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees
- Using a 9in cast iron dish, brush the cast iron with olive oil
- Unroll the pizza dough into the pan and up the sides of the pan
- Using a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce and can of tomatoes
- Spoon the tomatoes into the pizza dough
- Sprinkle a layer of mozzarella cheese
- Place a even layer of pepperoni on top of the cheese
- Sprinkle with more cheese and fresh basil
- Bake in the oven for 30 – 45 minutes or until the dough is a nice golden brown
- Allow to cool before enjoying!
